Meet Mrs. Stork

Welcome Parents and 1st Graders!  This is my 2nd year at Stewart Elementary!and my 11th year to teach!!!  Mrs. Fitzpatrick was my principal at Rice Elementary for 8 years!  I am STOKED about teaching first for my 8th year!  I also taught second for 3 years.  

Short Term Goals

Students are studying fiction texts and what is in fiction.  
Students are understanding what a scienctist does and it's importance.
Students are reviewing the first 25 sight words and will be adding up to 50 first sight words by the start of the 2nd quarter.
Students are learning to write small moments about their lives.

Long Term Goals

In first grade I will eventually help your child grow into an independent worker, thinker, and reader.  In 1st we will do many tasks whole group, your child will do those tasks independently towards the middle of the school year.  

Some of the big things we'll learn:
100 sight words, many word patterns, numbers to 120, addition and subtraction, how to pick an idea, then draw and write about it using beginning, middle, and end!!!  I'm looking forward to a great year!  Thank you for sharing your child with me.
